MacShaman FAQs
-
Our plans start with a flat monthly rate per user, designed for established small businesses typically with 10 or more users. We keep pricing simple: one predictable number, no surprise invoices. Get in touch, we’re always happy to walk you through it.
-
While we do offer savings for annual agreements, our plans are month-to-month. We believe you should stay because the service is great — not because you’re locked in.
-
Adding users is straightforward. Each additional user beyond your plan’s included seats is billed at a per-user rate that decreases as your tier increases — so growth becomes more efficient over time.
-
No setup fees. Onboarding is included in your first month.
-
Essentials covers the core needs of most small Apple-first teams: helpdesk support, device management, and basic security. Growth adds networking, cross-platform integration, identity management, and equipment procurement — right for teams that have outgrown the basics or run mixed environments. Scale is for established businesses with advanced networking needs, compliance requirements, or teams that want strategic IT planning built in. Enterprise is for complex, multi-site organizations that want a fully embedded IT partnership. Not sure? We’ll help you figure it out — no pressure.
-
Yes. You can move up (or down) at any time. We’ll prorate the difference.
-
Yes. Every tier includes management for your Apple devices — Macs, iPhones, and iPads — using industry-standard MDM tools.
-
Once you sign up, we schedule a brief discovery call to understand your current setup. From there, we handle the technical onboarding — enrolling your devices, configuring your security settings, and making sure everything is documented. Most clients are fully onboarded within one to two weeks.
-
We design the process to be as invisible as possible. Most of the work happens in the background. Where we do need your team's attention, we’ll give you plenty of heads-up and keep it brief.
-
In most cases, no. We can enroll and manage devices remotely. If you’re starting fresh with new hardware, we can pre-configure it before it ever reaches your team.
-
For mission-critical issues (things that are stopping the business from operating) — we aim to respond within one–two hours during business hours. Less urgent issues are typically addressed within four hours. Our Growth, Scale, and Enterprise tiers include expanded support coverage.
-
Standard support hours are Monday through Friday, 10 AM to 6 PM Eastern. Extended and after-hours coverage is available on higher tiers.
-
You can submit a ticket through our support portal, send us a message, or call. We keep it simple — no bouncing between departments.
-
Security is built into every tier. We handle endpoint protection, automatic OS and software updates, disk encryption enforcement, and threat monitoring. Nothing gets left unpatched.
-
We can support businesses with specific compliance requirements, particularly on our Scale and Enterprise tiers. We’ll work with you to understand what’s needed and make sure your environment meets the standard — including your Apple devices, PCs, and Network.
-
No. We manage your devices and settings — not your files. Our access is scoped to what’s needed to keep your systems running and secure, nothing more.
-
Most IT firms treat Apple as an afterthought. They’re built around Windows environments, and Mac support is bolted on. MacShaman is Apple-centric — every tool, every process, and every person on our team is focused on the Apple ecosystem. That means faster support, fewer workarounds, and less of your time explaining why things work differently on a Mac.
-
An in-house hire is one person — one skill set, one availability window, one point of failure. MacShaman provides a full team with deep Apple expertise at a fraction of the cost of a full-time employee. And we’re on top of the ecosystem full-time, so you don’t have to be.
-
Our plans are designed for businesses with established teams, typically 10 or more users. If you’re not sure whether we’re the right fit for your team size, reach out — we’ll be straight with you.
-
Yes, starting at our Growth tier. Growth includes basic networking management; Scale adds advanced networking for more complex environments. We work with business-grade gear — Meraki, SonicWall, Ubiquiti — and can manage your firewall, wireless, and internet redundancy as part of your plan.
-
Microsoft 365 is fully supported across all tiers — email, Teams, SharePoint, licensing, and security on your Apple devices. For mixed Mac/Windows environments, cross-platform integration is included starting at Growth. If your business is primarily Windows, we’re probably not the right fit, and we’ll be straight with you about that.
